Evacuation Assistance

S.T.E.A.R. Program

S.T.E.A.R is a program where anyone can request assistance for evacuation services in the event their area goes under an Emergency mandatory evacuation, and they do not have a way to get out on their own. There are several different ways to register for a ride. You can contact the Marshal's Office, call 211, or sign up for assistance online at State of Texas Emergency Assistance Registry

If it is a last minute sign up you can contact Chief Deputy Khristin New at 979-233-9911 or knew@jonescreektx.gov.

Anyone who evacuates though S.T.E.A.R will either stay in a public shelter or an emergency medical shelter. Basic things will be provided like food, water, and a warm place to sleep. Shelters can be located in schools, churches, office building or other types of buildings that meet requirements. If you can stay with friends or family and evacuate on your own this is always the better choice. Things to bring with you are identification, important papers, bedding, prescriptions, medical equipment you require, clothing, hygiene products, shower shoes, baby supplies if traveling with small children and entertainment items. All items except for equipment and bedding need to fit in two suitcases and one carry on.

If you are bringing pets you will need to provide all the medicine and food for your animals and animals will normally be housed in a separate location than people. All animals will need a pet carrier. Two pets per household unless prior arrangements are made. Shot records are required.

If you have signed up for S.T.E.A.R you will either be picked up from your residence by your local city or county or you can drive to one of the two Hub locations.

Evacuation hub locations:

Pearland Recreation Center

Angleton Fair Grounds
